As the term suggests, the following lists scholarly editions of the complete musical works of a composer, edited down to the last detail and with comments (Beethoven, Brahms and Haydn only in German; Bartók in English, Hungarian and German, Critical Commentaries and footnotes only in English). They not only comprise the best-known and most frequently played works, but also obscure occasional pieces, even sketches, drafts and alternative versions. Each volume is in the format 25.5 x 32.5 cm and is either bound in cloth or paper (the volumes in the Brahms and the Bartók Complete Edition are only available in linen). Each volume may be purchased separately or as part of a subscription to the complete edition through a dealer.
