»Max Reger - Accordarbeiter«
The exhibition "Max Reger - Accordarbeiter" (Max Reger - piece worker) is much more than a documentation of the successful cooperation between the Bavarian State Library and the Max Reger Institute in Karlsruhe that has spanned over 60 years. The two collections perfectly complement each other, and thus, by combining them, the exhibition conveys an impression of Reger's multilayered and complex oeuvre, as well as his inner sensitivity and outer gruffness. It highlights single works and follows the different stages of the composer's life. Alongside a list of the exhibits, the catalogue also contains colour reproductions of numerous autograph pages of music taken from particularly characteristic works. In addition, Reger's letters to Georg II, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen, which the Bavarian State Library recently acquired, are published for the first time. They provide an insight into the writer's vigorous and vivid manner. A biographical tour of the exhibition as well as contributions on the Max-Reger Collections in Karlsruhe and Munich complete the volume.
